How to Get to IsLe of tirEe

Travel Directions to Tiree and Tiree Scarinish Beach Hotel

Getting to us is a lot easier than you might think – by a variety of lovely journeys no matter which way you choose. We suggest you contact the local Ring and Ride service on 01879 220 419 to book the shared taxi/bus service prior to your arrival.

Tiree is a deceptive island as it is pretty big, so a hiring a car on at least one of your days can be useful to see the more far-flung areas (and it provides shelter!)

BY ROAD & BOAT

From the North
Take the A82 to Fort William then join the A85 to Oban.

From the South
From Glasgow - Take the A82 to Tyndrum, then the A85 all the way to Oban.

From Edinburgh - Take the M8 to junction 29, follow the signs for Erskine Bridge, go over the bridge and follow the A82 and A85 as above.

Once in Oban – the ferry terminal is easily found, and you will enjoy a delightful sail to Tiree. For details of ferry times and costs, go to www.calmac.co.uk

BY AIR

There are flights from Glasgow Airport, which are more regular in the summer than in the winter. Remember those air-miles! The 40 minute journey is the equivalent of 450 air miles + taxes.

For details of flights the operator is Loganair.

Hebridean Airways also operate out of Oban. Please contact them for further information.

BY RAIL & BOAT

Trains run regularly from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Oban, right to the ferry terminal - from there, join the ferry. For details of ferry times and costs go to www.calmac.co.uk.

The train journey from Glasgow is stunning - known as the West highland Line, it is regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys.
